New Milestone
Announced
On June 4th, the Provincial Government announced the issuance of Request for Qualifications (RFQ), to build the new Yurkovich Family Pavilion with a refreshed and approved $1.96 Billion budget, followed by the Request for Proposals (RFP) process.
The scope of the project remains the same:
• Nine-floor acute care tower
• A brand new Emergency Department with 86 care bays (up from 62) plus a satellite medical imaging centre
• The Greczmiel Family Surgical Centre with 11 universal operating rooms (an increase of 3) and 8 same-day surgical procedure rooms (an increase of 5), right-sized to accommodate modern surgical equipment and technologies, together with increased pre- and post-surgical care spaces (an increase of 42)
• A fully-equipped, state-of-the-art Milan & Maureen Ilich Medical Imaging Centre with expanded capacity
• 113 (net) new beds
Project Timeline
August 2024: Shortlisted proponents will receive RFP (Request for Proposal)
January 2025: Preferred proponents to be selected
Early 2026: Phase 2 construction
Late 2029: Construction expected to complete
January 2030: Yurkovich Family Pavilion open to patients
