Vancouver Artopia Youth Society Donates $10,000 to the Medical Imaging Centre Campaign

RICHMOND, BC – The Vancouver Art Youth Society (VAYS) brought the community together for their sixth annual International Youth Arts Contest and Exhibition on September 24th. The event garnered a generous audience who came to admire the remarkable artworks created by local youth and helped raise $10,000 for Richmond Hospital Foundation’s Medical Imaging Centre Campaign.

“We believe in making a positive impact on our community by harnessing the creative talents of our local youth,” explains Winnie Wang, director of VAYS. “This was a special opportunity to support our local hospital in acquiring the latest medical imaging technologies so that patients can get the best care.”

The Vancouver Art Youth Society, a registered non-profit organization, embodies the spirit of “Artopia” – an ideal realm of art where youth with a passion for artistic expression unite to leverage their creative talents for the greater good. VAYS’ commitment to Richmond Hospital Foundation has remained steadfast over the years. Since its inception in 2018, VAYS has organized various fundraisers and initiatives, contributing a total of $56,300 to date and making significant impact on health care in Richmond.

Spencer Gall, Richmond Hospital Foundation Campaign Director, expresses his gratitude, “We are so appreciative of the commitment and generosity demonstrated by the volunteers from Artopia, participating art studios, teachers, children, and families.”

Funds raised will play a role in advancing the future Milan & Maureen Ilich Medical Imaging Centre, a central component of the future Yurkovich Family Pavilion. This new imaging centre will be a part of the hospital’s new acute care tower, which will also house in-patient beds with ensuites, an expanded surgical centre, a new Emergency Department plus Critical Care Unit.

Richmond Hospital Foundation is raising $25 million to fund the acquisition of the latest imaging technologies crucial for diagnosing, tracking, and monitoring medical conditions. These technologies encompass CT scanners, MRI machines, mammography machines, SPECT machines, X-Ray machines, and interventional radiology machines.
