Long-time Richmond Hospital supporter, Tony Lau, has generously donated $10,000 to the hospital’s Medical Imaging Centre campaign to match a gift dollar for dollar from Gore Mutual Foundation, the charitable arm of Gore Mutual Insurance Company (Gore Mutual). Doing business together for over 30 years, Tony Lau Insurance Agencies Ltd. and Gore Mutual’s joint effort demonstrates their commitment to giving back for the health of their community.
“Richmond Hospital plays a very important role in maintaining the health of our growing community,” says Tony Lau, a local business owner, who founded Tony Lau Insurance Agencies Ltd. 40 years ago. “Many of my customers and staff live in Richmond, and they count on the hospital. I invite everyone to give something back to support health care in our community.”
The brand new Medical Imaging Centre will be in the future Yurkovich Family Pavilion, which will also be home to inpatient beds and an expanded surgical suite. The Medical Imaging Centre will be built to accommodate more than 200,000 visits per year, compared to just over 125,000 visits today.
“Giving is in our DNA, and through the broker grant matching program, we’re happy to support broker partners by matching their donations to support their favourite charities,” says Kate Hogan, Director of Western Canada with Gore Mutual. As one of Canada’s first property and casualty insurance companies, Gore Mutual has been serving brokers and customers in British Columbia since 1935. “We’re committed to building thriving communities and hope this donation will further support the great work being done at Richmond Hospital.”
“The new Medical Imaging Centre means more space, better design and the addition of new technologies to improve care and fulfill the increasing demand for imaging,” states Kathryn Slemko, Senior Director, Philanthropy of Richmond Hospital Foundation. “Thank you to Tony Lau Insurance Agencies and Gore Mutual Foundation for helping us make a difference for generations to come.”
With a $10 million fundraising goal, Richmond Hospital Foundation invites you to help fund excellence and innovative technologies in the new Medical Imaging Centre. Your gift will be vital in ensuring that innovation is a building block of the new Yurkovich Family Pavilion.
