Dear Donors and Friends of Richmond Hospital Foundation,

It is with the deepest expression of gratitude that I share this message with you on behalf of everyone at Richmond Hospital Foundation.

Over the years, countless individuals, families, businesses and community groups have donated generously to ensure that the health care teams in Richmond have the right equipment and resources to provide high quality care. Without knowing it at the time of making those gifts, this has had a huge impact today when we have needed and relied on having the best of health care during the COVID-19 pandemic. The gifts made before this crisis have helped enable care throughout these unprecedented times.

Looking to the future, many thoughtful philanthropists have already given generously to ensure that Richmond will have a new acute care tower in a few years so that our dedicated, compassionate physicians, nurses, and health care professionals will have the right facilities to work in and be able to look after our families, employees and visitors when they need them, better than ever before. Today, more than ever, we know that this new facility is urgently needed in preparation for the demands that we will face in the years to come.

And over the past six weeks, hundreds of individuals, families, co-workers, business owners, have come together in an incredible way to recognize the importance of having the best possible care by making their own donations. You have made financial donations, many in the fight against COVID-19 but also in support of health care as a priority all the time. Hundreds of thousands of donated dollars have been used to purchase urgently needed equipment, while meals and food donations have provided comfort for our hardworking frontline health care teams. Others have made donations of PPE, making sure that needs in Richmond and beyond are met. We are all so fortunate to be part of this community and are grateful to everyone who has raised their hands and joined together to help change and save lives. Extending your own gratitude in this way is truly honourable and helps to ensure the best of health care for people in Richmond.

To our frontline health care teams and essential workers, a world of gratitude to you, both during this crisis and always. We are there for you now and for the future. Thank you for truly setting an incredible example of heroism. You can count on us!

The outpouring of help and caring, past, present and for the future is so heartfelt, and it has been inspiring. Each of you that have contributed at every point in time, has exemplified our belief that giving is to be joyful, even in times of crisis. You have confirmed that joyful giving leads to joyful living, from one person for another. We applaud everyone in the community for all of your generosity, for all of your support for those who need it, wherever and however you have been able to help.

With my warmest regards,
