13th Starlight Gala Was A Spectacular Success!

On Saturday, October 29, 2011, the River Rock Casino Resort & Show Theatre, was transformed into a James Bond (007) inspired mystery, for the 13th Annual Starlight Gala, raising over $285,000 net in support of the Operating Room (OR) Campaign at Richmond Hospital. 

With a sold out crowd, guests enjoyed a fabulous ‘Shaken Not Stirred’ reception sponsored by AM-PRI Group, which featured body painted villains, an ice sculptured Bond martini bar, and guests frantically bidded on over 200 spectacular silent auction items.  During the reception guests also took their chance at the ‘Wine Wall’, where they could buy a number that was associated with 200 bottles of wine.  Hidden within the wall were three bottles of Dom Perignon Andy Warhol limited edition. 

Emceed by Dawn Chubai of Citytv, guests entered the Show Theatre which was elegantly dressed with clear Chiavari chairs which appeared to float on the ballroom floor.  While the guests enjoyed a spectacular five-course dinner, “wine fairies” danced above the tables pouring wine.   Some of the priceless live auction items included: a rare meet and greet with Bryan Adams, in New York, your choice of Holland America Line cruise for up to 10 days, rare wines, and much more!

“This year’s gala was bigger, bolder and more exciting than ever! The River Rock was transformed with sky high draping as guests entered into the Show Theatre, body painted Bond Girls, and the opening act with James Bond flew onto the stage to catch the diamond thieves was phenomenal” said Barbra Goodwin, Chair, Special Events for Richmond Hospital Foundation.  There were many Bond “secret agent” inspired surprises during the evening.  Guests watched while Bond tried to capture the diamond thieves.  The party continued with ABBAMANIA pumping out exceptional live music, keeping the crowd dancing into the wee hours!
