The 7th Annual Black Tie & Blue Jeans Gala

Raised $122,000!

The 7th Annual Black Tie & Blue Jeans Gala, which took place on August 7th, 2009 at the Twin Oaks Farm, was yet another spectacular success, with gorgeous weather, a sold-out crowd of 260 guests, and over $122,000 raised for the CT Scanner Campaign.

This year the gala was once again emceed by Dawn Chubai of Citytv and brought out a host of fabulous local guests as well as horse aficionados from Arizona, Ontario and Alberta. Attendees enjoyed the Penta Builders Group sponsored Equestrian Speed Derby, a delicious buffet dinner, and a fabulous silent auction which featured a wide variety of silent auction items including a luxurious yacht dinner cruise, Kubota lawn tractor, exclusive golf and wine packages, and unique items for horse enthusiasts.

The most popular program of the night, undoubtedly, was the live team auction. During this exciting, no-holds-barred event, guests bid on 16 teams of 3 riders performing in hilarious and at times racy costumes to attract bids. Riders put on quite the show for their bidders, and kept the otherwise competitive live auction fun, friendly and cheeky. The highest bidder became the “owner” of the riding teams, and the teams competed against each other in a jumping showdown on Saturday, August 8th.

The event was capped by another fabulous surprise - a donation of $50,000 from Laurie and Barry Cavanaugh. More wonderful donations followed, as many of the attendees gave generously and spontaneously in support of this important equipment purchase.

We are so grateful to Laurie Cavanaugh and Trevor Graham co-owners of Twin Oaks Farm for providing this amazing venue and their incredible support. This popular annual event brings the Richmond Hospital one big step closer to getting a state-of-the-art 128-Slice Adaptive CT Scanner. Thank you, Richmond!
